Colours that glow under UV light. You might only expect to see green and yellow glass react to UV light. However, in the collection you will find other colours that react to UV light. Even some clear glass has uranium oxide, as well as other possible additives, that will glow under UV light. |

Uranium oxide |
The glass will glow a yellow green colour under UV light. The intensity of the glow depends on the percentage amount of uranium oxide used. |
Selenium | Glass that contains Selenium - glows orange under UV light. Often used in conjunction with Cadmium. |
Cadmium | Glass that contains Cadmium - glows yellow under UV light. |
Manganese | Glass that contains manganese - glows green, red-orange under UV light |
Others | There are many additives, along with elements naturally occurring in the sand used, that will glow under UV light. |

An example of different reactions under UV light These 3 orange squeezers were made by Crown Crystal Glass Co. Ltd. (Australia) from 1929 - post WW2(?). While they are basically the same the colour varies as a result of chemicals added to give a different shade of green. |
